Matcha Bowl
Our Chawan (matcha bowl) has a white-grey glaze that leaves the foot of the bowl exposed, revealing the light brown clay.

Matcha bowls are never filled completely, but only to about 1/3 with – in the classic Usucha version – 100ml of 80-90 degree hot water. The bowl is about 7.5cm high and has a diameter of 12.5cm.The bowl has a medium weight and an aesthetic appearance. It feels great in the hand. Its size makes it particularly suitable for beginners.

Each bowl is a handcrafted unique piece from Japan – for authentic matcha preparation.

Matcha whisk and bamboo spoon

To create the delicate foam on the matcha, a matcha whisk is essential. The fine tines make it particularly easy to whisk the powder – clump-free and with a delicate crema. This is the classic matcha whisk in size 80.

Matcha whisks are handmade from bamboo. For this, the bamboo stick is cut at the upper end to create fine tines, which are then bent into shape. The thicker the bamboo, the more tines can be formed. This is how the different sizes (80, 100, 120) are created.

One to two heaped scoops of the dosing spoon correspond to one serving of matcha.

Care instructions

The matcha bowl is not dishwasher safe and should preferably only be washed by hand. Aggressive detergents can attack the clay, so wash only with water or a mild detergent.
